Mhom (Mom) is a mythical creature from Northern Thai folklore, often depicted as a hybrid of various animals. Its form varies, sometimes resembling a lion-cat, a dog-like being, or other imaginative combinations.
Influenced by Chinese art and later merged with traditional Lanna art, Mhom symbolizes strength, protection, and spiritual power.
Mhom sculptures adorn temple staircases across Northern Thailand and appear in sacred tattoos among elders in the North and Northeast.
It is believed to possess immense strength, descending to the human world to combat evil and protect against harm.
In Northern legends, Mhom serves as the mount of Patchunna, the Rain Deity. After descending to the human realm and indulging in power, it was unable to return to heaven and was commanded to guard Buddhist temples until achieving redemption.
Inspired by this legend, Mekha Aranya (Cloud Forest) was created to symbolize Mhom’s return to the heavens.
Centered on Osmanthus Absolute, enhanced by aldehydes and musk to evoke clouds, and warmed with honey, sandalwood, and subtle leather nuances, it is a floral soliflore fragrance capturing celestial elegance and quiet strength.
