In the legend, the mermaid saves Phra-Apai Mani, loses her family, finds love on Koh Keaw Pitsadarn, and ultimately endures heartbreak when he departs. Unable to raise their human child in the ocean, she entrusts him to a hermit, a final act of selfless love.
Assan, meaning The Tears of the Ocean, captures her sorrow and tenderness. It opens with airy neroli, lavender, and aquozone, evoking the sea breeze. The heart reveals jasmine absolute and labdanum, symbolizing pure love and gratitude, before settling into a calm, oceanic depth, serene, vast, and eternal.
